Coleman WeatherMaster Screened 6 Tent Review
While Coleman has long been recognized for making some of the best tents, with the introduction of their Coleman WeatherMaster Screened 6 Tent, they have proved that they are always striving to raise the bar just a bit higher. This tent is designed for families to enjoy all the comforts of the best shelter on their camping trips. With enough room to comfortably sleep six campers, it’s easy to see why is is one of Coleman’s most popular models.
The first thing that we noticed about this screened tent is its attractive, highly functional design. With a fully screened in porch area, a retractable canopy over the front door, and a spacious interior, this may be one of the best looking tents that we’ve seen in quite some time. The screened porch, in particular, is an ingenious addition to this tent. It provides a great area for eating meals or it can easily serve as a weatherproof storage area for all of your camping gear.
With a classic vestibule design, the WeatherMaster looks every bit as good as it performs. This tent is obviously designed with families, scout troops and other weekend campers in mind. Though with its three season shelter capabilities, we can see hardcore camping fanatics getting a lot of good use out of this model – even in colder weather camping conditions.
Venting – There is no shortage of venting with six screened windows, it’s easy to get plenty of air circulation. The addition of the Cool-Air privacy Port, privacy vent window, and all-mesh ceiling makes it very easy to keep things comfortable and aired out inside this tent.
Panel Material – The panels of this tent are made from tough, coated 75-denier polyester taffeta fly
Floor Material – The floors are welded and made from the same tough material as the panels. The welding provides additional protection against dampness creeping into the tent via the ground.
Wall Type – There are double walls provided with this tent. The interior panels are made from 68-denier polyester mesh.
Doors – There are two hinged doors that allow easy access into and out of the tent. These doors are some of the best tent doors that we’ve seen in quite some time.
Windows – There are seven windows on this tent. They are all easy to seal up against rain and sleet, and just as easy to roll up for great ventilation and to let a bit of sunlight in.
Rooms – This roomy tent can be divided into two separate rooms. This allows the kids to have their own room, while parents enjoy a bit of privacy. This is also ideal for a two couple camping scenario, as both couples will have their own room inside the tent.
Design – This family tent features a classic vestibule design with a touch of style that can’t be beat.
Dimensions & Weight
This tent is six feet ten inches high at the center of the tent. The footprint dimensions of this tent are 17 by 9 feet. All told those dimensions provide for plenty of space inside, without making the tent too large or unwieldy on the outside. This tent weighs in at 38.4 pounds, so it is a bit heavy.
Compared to some of the other tents we’ve seen in recent years, this model is remarkably easy to set up. Two people working together should be able to have this tent fully assembled in ten to fifteen minutes. All of the poles and ties are clearly marked for easy assembly. And the assembly directions are sewn into the storage bag so you never lose them.
